About Jonathan, owner & DJ
I have always been a fan or working out with music. Before iPods became popular I had a small MP3 player that would hold about 15 songs max. I would update my playlist daily and bring to the gym with me. I was always trying to put together a great set of songs that would keep me motivated throughout my workouts.
In 2008 I began searching the internet for workout music only to find websites that wanted me to buy entire albums that were set at specific BPMs. The only problem was the samples of the songs were sped up to match that BPM, so I decided to create a website that would display current music, as they were made, with direct links to download. My goal was to create a site where people could make their own workout playlist, based on their exercises, to songs they like to listen to.
In 2010 I decided to buy some DJ equipment and start producing workout mixes for GymDJ and in 2011 released the first GymDJ Workout Mix. All GymDJ mixes are spun and recorded by me on turntables.
